The kangaroo is an iconic marsupial native to Australia and is known for its unique hopping locomotion, strong hind legs, and muscular tails, which aid in balance. As members of the family Macropodidae, kangaroos are specially adapted to cover large distances across the rugged Australian landscape in search of food and water, consuming grasses, shrubs, and leaves.
Kangaroos are social animals, often seen in groups known as “mobs” or “troops,” which provide protection and social interaction. These mobs are led by a dominant male, often the largest and strongest in the group, who mates with females and defends the mob from threats.
